What is Recreating Happiness?
Welcome! I’m so glad you found my page. Recreating Happiness is an ALL gluten free recipe blog. Every recipe here is gluten free and often can easily be made dairy free as well.
The blog was born in 2009 after both my daughter and my husband were diagnosed with celiacs disease and I found out I’m intolerant (waiters just luuuurve us, not! lol).
I found myself spending a ton of money for GF cookies, bread, crackers, everything for a product that wasn’t worth the cost. They were so incredibly inferior to the “real” foods they were replacing.
Into the kitchen I went. I didn’t want to live the rest of my life without great food. I didn’t want my daughter to never have an awesome chocolate chip cookie or a nice thick pizza crust. After awhile I felt the need to share my recipes. I want to recreate everyone’s happiness with gluten free versions of homemade favorites.
I’m glad you’re here. Please leave comments, look around, and ask questions!
Behind Recreating Happiness:
I’m Rachel, the creative behind the blog. I’m an Air Force veteran and a food science student at Purdue University.
There’s a beautiful crazy jumble of science and art in food creation. I’m happiest when I’m in the kitchen or in the lab (or both!). I’m totally shy around new people but I’ll be the most out-going of the bunch once I know everyone. I’m a sponge of learning at school and in life. I get hyper at night, going to bed is one of the most boring things ever, and I get up extra early because I’m a work-out junkie. I literally dream of molecules some nights. I spend way too much money on bird seed for my outdoor feeder. I’ve had the same purse for 7 years because I’d rather spend money on doing something. I’m chronically cold and I love the outdoors. Our favorite family activity is packing up the car, heading to a state park, hiking, and wrapping it up with a cook-out. I watch science and history documentaries for fun. I love math jokes. I’m totally in love with my family and my life.
I’ve gone from cooking for my family to sharing my recipes with the world. I want to take the next leap and make products that everyone can find on the shelf at the grocery store. I want to share my excitement of food!
